No, the airline will ask for your ETA when you board.. Without this document, you cannot travel to or transit through Canada. At that point, you may be overcharged for the AVE by the company.

The AVE is only required for arrival in Canada, by air.

The ETA allows you to stay in Canada for up to 180 days. For longer stays, you should opt for a traditional visa in your passport, which will require you to submit a more complicated application. Please note that travelling to the USA and returning by land does not restart the 180-day period.

There is no time limit between two trips to Canada. The frequency and duration of your stays must not give the impression that you are trying to circumvent the rules and establish yourself indirectly and permanently in the country. This notion is at the discretion of the Canadian immigration authorities.

Be careful not to confuse them! A visa allows you to to enter in a country. An AVE (electronic travel authorisation) allows you to travel to the country in question. ETA applicants are eligible for the Visa Waiver Programme to enter Canada.

Yes, minors also need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA), provided they are also travelling to Canada.. You can group their requests on the same form. The fee is the same as for an adult.

If a minor leaves French territory without a legal guardian, he or she must be in possession of an AST (authorisation to leave the country). This document can be requested online, and must be completed by one of the holders of parental authority. When travelling, this form must be accompanied by a copy of the identity document of the legal guardian.
