Some airlines will ask you for proof of possession of your AVE before you board your flight to Canada, to avoid having to repatriate you at their expense if you are refused entry.

We advise you to apply for your AVE in advance, as it can take up to 2 days for the authorities to process it. No visa application will be granted by the Canadian authorities when you arrive in Canada.

Whatever the case, the best way to avoid this stress is to apply for an EVA in advancefrom your country of departure.
